Nurse > Occupational and Summary Tabs
Legislation was passed so that from 26th March 2012 the following restrictions apply to the hours persons on Student Visas are allowed to work.
The student work visa conditions are measured as 40 hours per fortnight. A fortnight means a period of 14 days commencing on any Monday and ending on the second following Sunday.
Students are restricted to 40 hours per fortnight once their course has commenced and during any period in which their course is in session. They are able to work unrestricted hours during any scheduled course break
The Student/Work Visa details for a Nurse are recorded on the Nurse Occupational Tab. The Student/Work Visa information is displayed on the Nurse Summary Tab.
An Exclusion Period for the Visa Maximum Fortnightly Hours, when a nurse is on a scheduled course break can be recorded on the Occupational Tab.
Nurse Student/Work Visa Warnings
Nurse > Occupational Tab
If you attempt to roster a Nurse onto a shift where they will exceed the Visa Maximum Fortnightly Hours recorded on the Occupational tab, a warning will appear.
If you attempt to roster a Nurse with an expired Student/Work Visa onto a shift, a warning will appear during the rating process advising of the expired Student/Work Visa.
Alternatively, all Nurses with expired Visas can be removed from the Rating Process. Go to Data Entry > Shift Request and Rosters and select “Yes” against “Remove Nurses with Warnings from Rating”. This will remove all Nurses with any type of warning from the rating process.
